Getting started in New England

While Scott plowed up the weeds and turned the soil over, I got some seeds started and put them in our new wee, indoor greenhouse to incubate. Tomatoes, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers and watermelon. So far. Oh, and started some basil in a pot today. We're moving right along.

My Garden in 2008

The weather has been amazing...really warm days and mild nights. Tons of stuff is blooming in my ward and around the area...daffodils, forsythia, cherry and plum trees, magnolias, redbud, and even a couple of azaleas! My garden has been plowed and I'm just waiting for Mr. Hines to come back and till it. I'm planning to make a permanent 8' strip dedicated to berries and rhubarb. On the other side of the garden I plan to put in a long low-tunnel hoop house. And if I can get a lot of mulch down quickly maybe I can maintain a manageable garden this year :)  Hope to start some seeds (peppers, tomatoes, flowers...) soon. What are you up to so far???
